Project Overview
Apollo Cradles were commissioned to provide external access by use of mast climbers & to support the construction of a new accommodation blocks. Whilst the building is fairly standard heavy-duty mast climbers were required to assist in the installation of a traditional brick facade.
Collaborative Planning
In partnership with Winvic, Apollo co-developed a tailored execution programme to install mast climbers & monorails that would:
- Reduce manual handling by use of mast climber loading bays.
- Minimise structural ties to the building.
- Increase productivity by installation double stack mast climbers
- Ergonomically better for brick workers
This seamless co-ordination reflected Apollo’s ethical & problem-solving leadership and low-impact delivery ethos to achieve the high standard the client required on this project.
Engineering Innovation
Whilst most the elevations were fairly standard the project is heavily reliable on the requirement for lifting packs of bricks direct onto certain mast climbers on the project.
Faced with the challenge Apollo set to work with concept drawings, machine demonstration, critical testing and full engineering calculations.
As a result, Apollo were able to offer a bespoke mast climber solution for cost-effective brickwork installation.
The alternative was to use a traditional scaffold which would have been detrimental to the project in terms of
- Cost
- Install & removal times / project programme
- Ties to the structure
Cable Guide System
To assist with the general tidiness of the site Apollo installed our cable guide system to each mast climber. These systems delivered:
- Reduced risk of ground cable strikes / slips / trips & falls.
Outcomes
- 📅 On-schedule delivery to date with zero operational disruptions.
- 🔍 Full compliance with LOLER 9.2(B) and thorough examination standards.
